Contactter Browser Extension — Privacy Policy

The Contactter browser extension ("the extension") helps dealership staff who already use the Contactter platform view and message their leads from inside their CRM. This policy explains what the extension accesses, why, and where it goes.

Who it's for

The extension is for authenticated Contactter users (dealership staff). You sign in once with your Contactter account to connect it.

What the extension accesses

• Contact details on the CRM page (a lead's name, phone number, email). Read only on the supported CRM domains, and only to look up the matching contact in your Contactter workspace and show the "Chat" badge.
• CRM activity timeline (e.g. the VinSolutions "Notes & History" list). Read so the lead's activity can be kept in sync in your Contactter workspace.
• Your Contactter sign-in token. Stored locally in the browser so you don't have to log in repeatedly. You can revoke it anytime from the extension ("Log out" / "Sign out all devices").

The extension runs only on the supported CRM domains and the Contactter domains; it does not run on other websites.

How the information is used

Solely to provide the extension's single purpose: showing the Chat badge, opening the conversation panel, and keeping lead activity in sync. The information is sent only to your own Contactter backend (api-portal.contactter.ai) over HTTPS.

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
• We do not use it for advertising.
• We do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
• We do not use or transfer it for anything unrelated to the purpose above.
• The extension contains no remote code — all code ships in the package.

Data storage & retention

The sign-in token and small operational caches (which dealer maps to which workspace, which activity items were already synced) are stored locally in the browser via chrome.storage. Lead/contact and activity data are stored in your Contactter workspace under your organization's existing Contactter data retention terms. Revoking the extension token (logout) stops further access from that device.

Your controls

• Disconnect a device: extension popup → Log out.
• Disconnect all devices: extension popup → Sign out all devices.
• Tokens are also revocable server-side by your Contactter administrator.
